How to Remove the Firing Pin in a Taurus PT92
- 1). Remove the magazine. Pull the slide fully to the rear. Visually inspect the chamber to ensure that no live ammunition is present.
- 2). Depress the disassembly latch release with your left forefinger. Simultaneously, rotate the disassembly latch clockwise until it stops completely. Pull the slide forward and off the weapon frame.
- 3). Flip the slide over. Depress, then lift out the recoil spring guide. This is the large spring-wrapped pin visible when you turn the slide over. Pull the barrel upward and out of the slide.
- 4). Secure the slide into a padded gun vise. Remove the two rear sight screws with a small screwdriver, but only if your PT92 model has adjustable rear sights.
- 5). Tap the rear sight off the weapon using a plastic or nylon hammer. Depress the small detent pin on the bottom of the slide, directly under the rear sight. Rotate and remove the firing pin lock carefully.
- 6). Tilt the slide upward with the rear sight base facing the ground. Pull out the extractor lever and the firing pin will slide out. Take care to use caution when removing the pin. As the pin slides out, it will be followed by a small spring.
