How to Throw a Perfect Punch on a Pivot
- 1). Prepare your stance. Stand with your left foot out in front of your right foot with your knees slightly bent. If you wish to box southpaw, reverse all of these directions. Hold your hands up in ready position at about eye level. Position your left hand in front of your right and out in front of your body.
- 2). Pivot on your right foot and turn your torso to your left. You do this at the same time as you start the punch with your right hand. This technique enables your power to come from your core--your waist and hips, your whole torso--and not just your shoulder and arm.
- 3). Strike. As your right heel pivots outward, shoot your right hand in a straight line directly at your target. Clench your first tightly just before impact as you strike your opponent.
