How to Troubleshoot a Runtime Error
- 1). Run a registry cleaner program to resolve registry problems that cause runtime errors. If you do not have registry cleaner program, download and install a free cleaner such as CCleaner (see Resources).
- 2). Launch your program after it has installed and click the "Registry" button on the left panel. Place a check on all the categories under "Registry Integrity."
- 3). Click "Scan for issues." CCleaner will scan the registry for errors and display them. Click "Fix selected issues" and click "Yes" to backup the registry.
- 4). Click "Fix all selected issues" when the backup is complete and click "OK" to clean and repair the registry errors.
- 5). Uninstall and reinstall the program that is constantly running into runtime errors if the registry cleaning process did not resolve the problem. To do so, click the Windows "Start" button and click the "Control Panel."
- 6). Double-click "Add or Remove Programs" or "Uninstall a Program" (Windows Vista). Scroll through and click the program running into runtime errors and click "Remove/Uninstall" to uninstall it from your computer.
- 7). Insert the installation disc and reinstall your program. Go to appropriate download page on the Internet to reinstall your program if you had initially installed the program online.
