Trigger Trombone Information
- The trigger trombone belongs to the trombone family, which is a type of instrument made of brass.
- In 1839, Christian Friedrich Sattler, a German instrument maker, discovered the possibility of switching the tenor trombone's key of B-flat to F. Since then, the basic design of trigger trombone has been established.
- Trigger trombone is a specialized straight slide trombone. It has an F-attachment, which is a kind of tubing that puts the note of key in F, instead of the usual B-flat in regular trombones. It has a thumb-operated lever called a trigger, which operates the F-attachment by opening or closing the valve attached into it.
- The trigger gives the instrument flexibility by creating a wide range. It also allows the player convenience because of quicker access to notes.
- The trombone gained prominence after it was included in Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 5.
