Vaquero - What is Vaquero?
Definition:
A Vaquero is traditional Spanish/Mexican style cowboy. The horsemanship style harks back to its Spanish roots in the equipment used and the type of horse ridden. The vaquero style of horsemanship is almost solely concerned with developing a dependable working cow horse. Saddles look similar to western saddles used today, although the saddle horns and tapaderos tend to be larger and the tooling and silver fittings more ornate.
Vaquero tack includes bosals and spade bits, each having a place in the careful training of the cow horse.
Also Known As: Charro, Cowboy, Cowgirl, Buckaroo, Stockman (Australian)
