Using Special Search Terms on eBay

103 13
Here are a few tips on how to use special search terms on eBay: 1.
If you do not know how to spell an entire word, use an asterisk (*), which serves as a wild card symbol.
A search for Pors* will turn up lots of items having to do with the motor car company Porsche, if you cannot remember how to spell it.
But you will also come up with many other search terms, such as Porsgrund, which is a manufacturer of plates.
2.
Use the minus sign (-) if you want to eliminate something from search results.
For instance, if you want to find all the items on eBay that have Pors in the title but not the word Porsche, type the following: Pors* -Porsche.
In that case, you will really come up with lots and lots of Porsgrund plates.
3.
The minus sign comes in handy if you are looking for misspelled items.
These are items that will not show up on search results and that are likely to have few bidders.
You might find some real bargains here.
If you search for Pors* - Porsche, for instance, you come up with Porsche and many other misspelled Porsche items.
4.
Misspellings are like gold to a buyer who wants bargains.
If you are aware of common misspellings of items in your field, search for those misspellings.
If you find one, you might end up being the only bidder.
5.
If you have two spellings you want to search for (such as Porsche and Porshe), use both of them in the search box.
Separate them with a comma, but do not put a blank space between them: Porsche,Porshe.
6.
You can combine the minus sign with a set of two or more words.
Put the words you want to exclude in parentheses and you will prevent them from showing up: Porsh -(Porsche,Porshe) will only present titles with Porsh in the search results, for instance.
You can learn to use these special search terms to look for other seller's item that you can resell for a profit on eBay.
