    Geography

    • Located on the southwestern tip of the United States, Yuma offers a year-round warm dry climate added to its attraction for tourists. The land is a combination of desert terrain and fertile land in its valley areas making it home to abundant wildlife and a booming agricultural business. Yuma is in close proximity of the Colorado River and just a 25-minute drive will take you over the border to Mexico.

    Sightseeing

    • While in Yuma, you want to take advantage of the chance to learn and experience the southwestern American history the area is known for. Walk through the cells and hear the jaw-dropping stories of the inmates who were held at the Yuma Territorial State Prison between 1876 and 1909. The location was used for several Hollywood films and today serves as a museum and state park for tourists to view. Visit the U.S Army Yuma Proving Ground and the Marine Corps Air Station to take a tour of where some of the United States military trains for battle.

    Recreation

    • Yuma's close proximity to the Colorado River and Martinez Lake gives tourists a chance to take boating excursions and water ski to cool off from the warm temperatures. There are 12 diverse golf courses to choose from in addition to Golf Digest's top-rated Arizona course, The Desert Hills Municipal Golf Course. Hike along one of the area's desert trails one day and go horseback riding the next. Yuma also provides a number of youth-friendly recreation in the form of a sports complex and an over 200-foot water slide near Kennedy Park.

    • Experience the excitement of a Las Vegas casino right in Yuma, Arizona. The Cocopah Casino and Resort is a Native American tribal gaming and entertainment venue equipped with all your favorite modern slot machines and an eclectic array of dining choices.
