Selecting a RC Drifting Car
People often wonder what sort of car they should get to drift on.
The answer is simple.
Get any electric four wheel drive touring car, make some drift tires for it and then go out and drift! Although in full size drift cars it is best to use a rear wheel drive car, that does not hold true for RC Drifting.
Using a rear wheel drive car will get you nowhere other than extreme frustration.
A good real Four wheel drive touring car is going to run you over 100 Dollars.
If you want to get a better deal, check eBay and look around for one.
RC is a hobby that a lot of people get really into for awhile but then quit and auction off all their stuff.
You can get great deals at these auctions.
There are of course $500+ cars you can buy but as an entry level driver and drifter If you have to have something brand new to use and drive, there are several drift specific packages you can look for.
Yokohoma, HPI, Tamiya and now Team Losi are all offering cars made specifically to drift in.
The thing with buying these is that they are not really anything other than the basic touring car that has had minimal if any changes made to it to make it "Drift Specific" Save some money to use on a better motor and speed control and radio and buy a normal touring car.
Speaking of motor and speed control what should you look for in those? You will first need an electric speed control that can handle a lot of stress.
Make sure you get one that is rated down to 17t .
As for motor selection you want one with more torque than top end speed.
A good choice will be any 27 turn motor.
I highly recommend the trinity monster horsepower stock edition.
This is a fast tough motor that you will be able to drift incredibly well with.
