My Rabbit's Foot Fern Will Not Grow Leaves

    Lighting

    • Too much direct sunlight can dry out a rabbit's foot fern and its soil, preventing it from putting out leaves. Rabbit's foot ferns need partial to full shade. Moving the fern into the shade and supplying it with plenty of water encourages growth.

    Water

    • Rabbit's foot ferns require moisture to grow. Soil that dries out completely between waterings will dry out the fern, and eventually it will stop producing leaves. Water ferns regularly to keep the soil moist.

    Pests

    • Indoor and outdoor pests, including mites, can damage a rabbit's foot fern. Mites sap nutrients from the leaves and kill them. The plant can become too weak to continue producing leaves over time. Check the fern regularly for signs of pest damage.
