How to Turn While Snowboarding
- 1). Start sliding downhill with your weight evenly distributed between the toes and heels of each foot.
- 2). Apply light pressure on the toes of your front foot only. Gradually increase this pressure, noting how the toe-side edge of your board digs into the snow and turns the entire board around. You can increase the speed of your turn by applying pressure on the toes of your back foot, too.
- 3). Relax the pressure on your toes until your weight is evenly balanced between toes and heels again. The nose of your board should naturally swing downhill until you're going straight again.
- 1). Start by sliding downhill, weight evenly balanced on each foot, nose of the board pointing straight down the slope.
- 2). Apply light pressure with the heel of your front foot. Gradually increase this pressure, noting how the heel-side edge of your snowboard digs into the snow and makes your entire board turn. You can hasten the turn by applying pressure with the heel of your back foot, too, but you should always initiate the turn with your front foot.
- 3). Relax the pressure on your heels until you're evenly balanced between toes and heels on both feet. This should turn the nose of your board downhill again until you're going straight.
