Dll File Repair
- You will need to download an archiving and decompressing software, such as WinRar, so that you are able to open the downloaded DLL in a "zip" format. Go to the Free Downloads Center website (see Resources) and click on "Save" in the pop-up download confirmation center. Then browse to the location on your hard drive where you want to save the setup file and click on "Save" again. Double-click the saved setup file once the download is finished, and follow the step-by-step instructions of the Installation Wizard to install WinRar on your computer.
- Go to the Dll-Files website and then click on the first letter of the corrupt or missing DLL file you are looking for. Look through the list on the next page and locate the DLL file. Then click on "Click here to go to the download of filename.dll" link on the next page. Click on the "Download filename.dll" in the pop-up window and then on "Save" to download the file.
- Double-click to open the saved DLL file. It's in the "format," so once you open it, the WinRar application will start automatically and will decompress the file. Once the file is unzipped, right-click it in the WinRar window and select "Copy." Drop the file in the system directory by right-clicking anywhere in a blank space of the directory and then selecting "Paste." Depending on your version of Windows, the system directory will be located as follows: C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me), C:\WINNT\System32 (Windows NT/2000), or C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP and Vista). The system will prompt you to overwrite the existing DLL corrupt file, so click on "Yes." Reboot your computer.
If the DLL file is still listed as corrupt or missing, then you will have to register the newly pasted file. Go to the "Start" menu, click on "Run" and type "cmd." Type "regsvr32 filename.dll" and hit "Enter" to register the new DLL file.
