Strategies For Using Social Media Marketing to Replace Paid Advertising!

103 81
When talking to people in the online advertising industry most do not see social media ever replacing paid advertising.
They talk about the coverage that paid advertising can provide along with the effectiveness of keyword advertising and flash advertising.
When you first look at social marketing it appears to be a great way to advertise a product and service, especially if you are on a budget or if you are just starting your business.
The strong growth of social sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and YouTube do offer a unprecedented opportunity for internet marketers, if you only consider the numbers of people using these sites.
The problem that most people run into is that social media marketing is completely different then paid advertising or other forms of marketing.
It is true that most people using a social media site are there to communicate with the friends and followers, their colleagues and family.
The only way that people are going to accept your marketing message on a social media platform is if you give away something of value for FREE.
Free is the keyword in all social media marketing strategies, if you want them to be successful.
I am not suggesting that you need to give away your products for free, but you do need to give something of value away to your friends and followers if you want them to click on the link and leave the social media site to visit you site.
Social marketing is all about creating a trusting relationship with the people you want to act on your message.
This relationship takes time to develop, so you cannot consider social media marketing a quick money strategy.
Paid advertising is a quick money strategy where you spend money to make money, but social media is all about the long term relationship strategy.
If you think that you can market a $499 product on Facebook and Twitter and have hundreds of sales the first 3 months...
think again.
This type of marketing takes time.
You have to develop free valuable content, get friends and followers, then provide them with your free content consistently over a month or so before you get them into a position where they trust you enough to make a purchase.
Using an auto-responder process will help improve results because you get the people into a sale funnel when they are ready, rather then having them wait.
An auto-responder is essential for social media marketing.
I hope this help you understand the difference between social media marketing and paid online advertising.
There is a major difference which you must consider before including it within your overall marketing plan.
