How to Spray Roses
- 1). Read all the instructions on your chemical spray before you begin.
- 2). Select a still, dry day for spraying roses. This will prevent wind or rain from washing the chemicals off the roses or from blowing them onto other plants.
- 3). Put on protective goggles and gloves when spraying roses so you do not get the chemicals on your skin or in your eyes.
- 4). Mix the chemical with the directed amount of water in the reservoir of a garden sprayer. Follow the package directions for mixing instructions. Add a spray adjuvant, which helps the chemical stick to the roses, according to the package directions.
- 5). Stand upwind of the plant and turn the nozzle of the garden sprayer so it points up. Spray the underside of the rose foliage, which is where most pests live. Spray until the leaves drip, then turn the nozzle down and spray the tops of the rose foliage until you soak them.
- 6). Repeat the application as directed by the chemical packaging.
