Skateboarding is one of the most loved sports in the entire world.
Actually a recent inquiry in United States found out that skateboarding is the third most popular sport with teenagers, right after football and basketball.
Skateboarding is something that you get to love even before you actually put your feet on the board for first time.
Just by watching others skating - the sincere joy they feel doing that, is enough for you to realize that it is something cool and you should definitely try it.
And here is the thing that this article is actually about - safety.
As an experienced skateboarder I've spent lots of hours at the parks, gliding on the ramps.
In that time I've seen very often how people neglect the most important thing - their own safety.
They don't wear helmet or knee pads, or elbow pads, or most frequently they just don't have the whole package.
But it's not only about the protectors.
After years of skating the skateboarders develop this great confidence in their own skills.
Start to try new things - each one more risky than the previous.
Of course this does not apply to all of us skateboarders.
I recently watched a video on YouTube that provoked me to write this article.
So in this video is recorded how a skateboarder tries to jump from the roof of one building to the roof of the building across.
And what do you think happened - he did not make it.
He fell down and...
died.
And now I appeal - don't do anything rash, don't be stupid.
Keep your hobby safe.
Always wear protective gear - a helmet and knee-, elbow- and wrist pads.
If you are beginners - do not try to do what "the big boys" do, as you might get hurt.
And never, ever jump out of a roof of building.
After all, your health is the most important thing.
