How to Get Your Camera Returned to You by Including ID Information
- 1). Write your full name, home address, home phone number and email address on an index card, then place the index card inside the camera's carrying case. Include a cellphone number if you choose, but keep in mind that cellphone numbers change faster than home phone numbers, addresses or email address, and therefore might not be as useful to someone who finds the camera.
- 2). Select "Notepad" from the "Start" menu and create a new text file. Input your contact details, then select "Save" from the "File" menu, name the file "OwnerInformation.txt" or something similar, and click the "Save" button.
- 3). Connect the camera to your computer using its USB cable. Remove the memory card from the camera before you do this so the information you transfer goes to the camera itself, rather than a memory card that might not be installed when you lose the camera.
- 4). Select "Computer" from the "Start" menu, then navigate to the location of the text file. Right-click on the file and select "Copy."
- 5). Double-click the name of your camera in the Windows Explorer sidebar. Right-click anywhere within the window and choose "Paste" to place an electronic record of your contact information on the camera's internal memory.
