Pump Belt Replacement

• 1). Power off the Bissell machine and remove its power cable from the power outlet.
  
  
• 2). Step on the machine's release pedal and lay the machine's handle on the floor. Take off the SmartMix tank and the tank-in-tank to access the belt access door.
  
  
• 3). Insert the flat end of a flat-head screwdriver into the belt access door on the front of the machine. Carefully pry the door to remove the belt access door.
  
  
• 4). Flip the machine over and unscrew the screw holding the black brush and red retainer plate in place with a Phillips-head screwdriver. On the bottom of the machine there is a brush belt and a pump belt, and the brush belt must be removed to access the pump belt.
  
  
• 5). Remove the brush arm and remove the toothed brush belt. Remove the broken pump belt, and loop the new pump belt around the red pump pulley. Loop the opposite end of the pump belt around the silver motor shaft.
  
  
• 6). Place the toothed brush belt back onto the red pump pulley, and then connect it to the toothed end of the brush.
  
  
• 7). Connect the brush arm to the brush, and slide it into the machine's base. Place the red retainer plate back onto the machine.
  
  
• 8). Tighten the screw to secure the retainer plate, and gently spin the new belt to see if it is correctly installed. The belt spins smoothly when it is correctly replaced on the machine.
  
  
• 9). Flip the machine over and place the tanks back onto the machine.
  
  

Basic Troubleshooting

• 1). Check the ReadyDial tool on the front of the machine to ensure the machine's carpet setting is correct.
  
  
• 2). Check the SmartMix dial to see if the carpet protector setting is set to water/rinse. If the setting is not enabled, the carpet protector solution will not spray from the nozzle.
  
  
• 3). Rinse the machine's tools in hot, running water to remove clogs caused by solution buildup.
  
  
• 4). Remove the tank-in-tank and pour out dirty water in the tank. Rinse the tank out with hot water and place it back onto the machine.
  
  
• 5). Remove the tank lid and remove lint from the lint screen. Insert the link screen back onto the tank lid, and place the tank lid back onto the machine.
