Removing An Outdoor Ant Nest

• 1). Observe the ants carefully and create a map of their movements. If you observe that their nest is outside, removing them from your home is a simple process of exclusion.
  
  
• 2). Vacuum the ants in your home.
  
  
• 3). Mix a solution of vinegar and water, and wipe the observed trail of the little black ants. Do not rinse. Like all ants, little black ants will leave a chemical trail that they follow to known food sources. The vinegar solution eliminates the trail and erases the known path that the ants follow into your home.
  
  
• 4). Soak the ant nest with residual liquid insecticide.
  
  

Removing An Indoor Ant Nest

• 1). Vacuum ants inside your home.
  
  
• 2). Clean ant trails with vinegar and water solution, and allow to dry.
  
  
• 3). Spray an aerosol insecticide along baseboards and in any crack or crevices through which you have seen ants entering.
  
  

Removing Unknown Ant Nests

• 1). Place ant baits along known ant trails. Ant baits use a slow-acting pesticide that the ants carry back to their colony and kill the queen. This is especially effective if you are unable to locate the nest.
  
  
• 2). Vacuum ants in the home after a few days of allowing the ants to consume the bait.
  
  
• 3). Clean ant trails with vinegar and water solution, and allow to dry.
