How to Wet Sand Clear Coat Paint
- 1). Purchase a fine grit wet/dry sandpaper, such as 400 or 600 grit. Lower numbers of sandpaper are more abrasive and may scrape away the clear coat completely.
- 2). Wet the sandpaper under running water and drip a few drops of dish soap onto the sandpaper.
- 3). Rub the dry clear coat with the wet sandpaper. Lightly sand the entire surface with the wet, soapy sandpaper.
- 4). Wipe away the suds with a damp rag.
- 5). Dry the surface with a clean, soft towel to remove moisture and reveal the shine of your freshly sanded clear coat.
