    • 1). Place an empty, recordable DVD in your Windows XP computer's DVD burner. Close the tray and give Windows XP a few seconds to recognize that the disc is in the drive.

    • 2). Double click the "My Computer" icon on your Windows XP desktop.

    • 3). Double click the icon in "My Computer" for the DVD in your computer's DVD burner.

    • 4). Click any files on your computer's hard drive that you'd like to burn to the DVD and drag them into this window on screen. A standard DVD can hold up to 4.7GB (gigabytes) of information, so don't overfill your disc or it won't be able to burn.

    • 5). Click on the blue "Write These Files to Disc" hyperlink on the left side of the window on screen. Give the DVD you are about to burn a name and then click "OK." Windows XP will now burn the files you have selected to the DVD.
