Using macros in Rift can both be a boon and a bane for players.
On one hand, the correct macros drastically improves your speed in executing commands; a badly configured macro can just ruin your day to no end.
It's very difficult to develop one comprehensive Rift Macro guide so instead we're providing the basics of macro creation.
As a backgrounder, macros allow you to issue one set of command based on a pre-defined hot key.
The player can create his own macro based on his preferences and rightly used, these macros can speed up the way you can play the game.
The following will basic macro commands but learning it requires more than just reading from a Rift macro guide.
Perfecting your macros take practice and you will need to spend some time on the Planes of Telara to constantly refine your macro making and using skills.
Basic macro commands pertain to repetitive game commands that come up on a regular basis.
A few examples include /saveequip followed by a number which stores your gear list for future use.
For example, /saveequip 1.
A complementary command is /loadequip "number" which loads the gear list you just saved.
/cast allows you to throw an ability at a specific player.
For example, /cast @FratBoy23 Motif of Tenacity which casts that skill on the player named FratBoy23.
Similar commands include /use item for using a specific item in your stash and /help which pulls out the accepted commands on Rift.
These commands are largely configured by the player and is also important for collaboration during group tasks.
You can create macro crowd control notifications so your group members know the specific target for a specific spell you are casting.
It's a convenient way to see if a discussed strategy is being executed as agreed in group and so that there is greater transparency in making sure the group moves exactly as one unit.
You can look up other Rift macro guides for a more comprehensive list of examples on macro creation.
Just know that you can use macros to your advantage but only if you create them properly.
Good macros can make all the difference on the Planes of Telara as they can significantly reduce your casting time.
A failed macro on the other hand can leave you vulnerable to an attack without further notice.
Use macros well and you should have no problem vanquishing those monsters on the Rift planes.
