Paper Lamp Instructions
- 1). Lay a piece of paper horizontally in front of you on a flat surface. Line the right edge of the paper to its left side, thus folding the paper in half, and mark a vertical crease through the middle of the paper. Cut the paper in half along this vertical crease.
- 2). Take one of your new pieces and fold it in half from right to left. Keeping it folded, fold it in half again. Unfold this last fold.
- 3). Fold the bottom left corner to the middle of the top side. Crease firmly in place. Fold this bottom left corner back towards the crease that you just made, making it into a triangle shape.
- 4). Fold the right flap over the triangle, as far as it will go. Turn it over. Fold the small flap on the right over the entire piece. You now have what looks like a flat cone or a kite.
- 5). Make a complete horizontal cut across the piece one inch from the narrow pointy end. However, don't make a straight cut. Cut so that the line slopes downwards in a slight curve. You now have a miniature triangle with one side that is slightly curved.
- 6). Cut 1/8 inch beneath the curved side. Don't cut all the way to the end; stop just before your scissors reach the other side.
- 7). Unfold your piece. You now have a pretty flower. Pull the exterior petals upwards and staple them together so that they keep that formation. When finished, your flower somewhat resembles a cup sitting in a saucer.
- 8). Create five more flowers out of paper that look exactly like this one. When finished with all of them, arrange five of them in a circle with a sixth flower in the middle. Push them close together and staple their sides together so that they keep this formation.
- 9). Create five more flowers out of paper using these methods. Arrange the five flowers in a circle with your big flower of six connected flowers in the center.
- 10
Push the five flowers around the big flower so that they all touch. Connect each flower to the big flower by stapling the side of each smaller flower to an available side of the large flower. The result will be one big flower that sort of looks like a big pom-pom. - 11
Wrap a piece of printer paper around an ordinary drinking glass so that the glass is completely concealed by the paper cylinder. Tape it in place. - 12
Turn on a flashlight so that it is on and place it in the drinking glass so that it shines outwards. - 13
Place your pom-pom of flowers on top of the paper cylinder. It should balance perfectly and soften the light coming through the flashlight.
