Pepper Spray - Personal Alarms - Your Right to Self Defense
We ask our self, "what would I do?".
Hopefully it wont happen but a good reality check will initiate some type of action and a planto actually prepare yourself for such an occurrence.
If an attacker is close enough to touch you consider the fact that, at that time, you are at a serious disadvantage unless you are proficient at hand to hand combat or some form of martial arts.
Personally, if placed in that position Iwould hope tohave the resources available that would deny the assailant an opportunity to get that close.
A form of defense spray such as,CS,CN,OC or a combination of one or more thesprays and or a personal alarm should be considered when planning for a defense against an unpredictable attack.
Of the 3 types of chemicals mentioned OC- Oleoresien Capsicum is the most effective.
CS and CN are irritants that cause pain, tearing, and stinging.
It can take from 5 - 30 seconds to be effective.
For some there may be little or no effect.
Reports of individuals that are drunk or on drugs may not feel the pain.
OC on the other hand is not a irritant.
OC is an inflammatory agent .
When sprayed with OC the first reaction is that the assailants eyes will clamp shut and if they do open their eyes they will still be unable to see very well.
The next reaction will be a fit of uncontrollable coughingthat doubles the individual over.
OC causes near instant inflammation of breathing tissues.
This is temporary but it has accomplished the task at hand of rendering the individual helpless long enough for you to flee and sound an alarm.
Do some homework when deciding what type to purchase and the type of container that you are most comfortable with.
You must also pre plan your action if attacked and remember to keep the defense spray easily access able at all times.
Be sure to read the instructions and become familiar enough with the operation of the container so that if you ever do need to use it you wont have to fumble and lose that brief advantage you gave yourself.
Don't purchase a self defense spray or a personal alarm and then let it end up in the bottom of your purse or buried in the glove box or your console.
Keep it handy and easy to put into service if you ever do need it.
I have kept some form of spray for years and have also made sure my son, daughter and wife carried it for their personal safety.
Frankly it is so inexpensive and effective for the price compared to other self defense products why would you not consider it as an alternative to what could happen if ever attacked? I hope I am never put in the position to have to use it .
I hope my son and daughter never use it and I hope you never have to use it.
At least you have a chance to defend yourself and hopefully not becoming a victim.
With your new found knowledge and confidence you should be able, if you chose to do so, render an attacker temporarily helpless and avoid serious confrontation.
