Guide Review - Kyle Wyley - Kyle Wyley
Kyle Wyley's major label debut is pretty impressive in that there are several different types of songs that show Kyle can sing ballads, up-tempo tunes, & jazzy numbers. Even though I like his voice & the songs he sings, at times I think the song's order could have been better. Putting four slow/ballad songs in a row at the beginning of an album doesn't seem smart to me. Especially when you want an artist to capture listener's attention.
"Holding & Letting Go" captures a moment when two emotions are being felt at one time. Just when you think you are over someone, you find yourself holding on to memories the two of you shared together. "With You" sounds perfect for the big ballad category with lyrics like "You are a mirror to my soul" & "I finally understand exactly who I am." "In My Dreams" has a jazzy sound complete with a saxophone solo.
"Quit Comin' Around" breaks out more of a contemporary country sound than the previous songs which makes me happy. I was worried that every song would be slow.
"Blues About You Baby" is pure honky-tonk and delights me to no end. Kyle goes from the fifties sound to more of a contemporary honky tonk tune in "She Knows What To Do." He & his lady know how to turn it up when they go out & the stares she gets are no doubt because of her belly button ring & go-go pants. "All That Glitters" is a very nice sounding song that closes the 'Kyle Wyley' album by showcases some of Kyle's upper vocal range.
