How to Become an Actor or Actress
Have you ever dreamed about becoming an actor? If you're a human being (and I'm assuming you are), you more than likely have.
Being an actor on the big screen is arguably one of the best jobs in the world.
There are several ways to gain superstar status, and not all of it is just looks.
On average, it takes "overnight celebrities" ten years to get "found"; what this means is the sooner you work on your goal, the sooner you are to obviously reach it.
The very first thing you can do is to take acting lessons.
If you're reading this and are still in high school, that's great: join your drama class.
Get as much acting, improvisation, singing and dancing lessons as you can.
If you're out of high school, join a local junior college's drama program and again get as much experience as you can acting.
The more skills you have, such as singing, dancing and improvisation, the better chances of you landing a leading role on TV (think all the Disney celebrities who not only know how to act, but sing as well) or film.
Next what you'll want to do is get a few monologues memorized (a dramatic one and comedic one) you can recite on spot for a director and get a few headshots taken by professional photographers.
You can then take these headshots to a casting company and pay a small fee to join.
You'll be emailed a list of roles daily which fit you and be able to submit your resume and headshots to the casting director and hopefully land an audition - you may even land a leading role.
So after you've got some experience acting on camera, you can join a union such as the Stage Actors Guild (SAG) and even hire an agent who will find you bigger and better roles at the price of a small percentage of your paycheck.
This guide will help you get your foot in the door and help you to hopefully become the actor or actress you've seen on the big screen.
