How to Fix the Choke Lever on a Snowblower

104 30
    • 1). Check the throttle control on the snowblower to make sure that it's in the proper position before manipulating the choke lever. The positioning of the throttle control can affect the running of the engine and the use of the choke. The throttle control lever is just below the ignition key on the engine. Move the lever to the "FAST" position.

    • 2). Find the choke knob or lever on your snowblower. The exact location will vary, depending on your make and model. The choke lever is generally on the front side of the engine, just above where the ignition key is inserted.

    • 3). Move the choke lever on the snowblower to the "On" or "Full" position if you are attempting a cold start. This is when the machine has not been operated recently, and you are attempting to start the engine when it is completely cold.

    • 4). Move the choke lever immediately to the "Off" position after the engine stops sputtering following the cold start. Leaving it in the "On" position may cause running issues with the engine.

    • 5). Move the choke lever to the "Off" position prior to starting to fix it if the snowblower has been running recently and is still warm. The choke lever should be in the "Full" position only during a true cold start.
