Tiger - The Ultimate Guide by Valmik Thapar

I have had a fascination and love for tigers since I was very young.
They have always been an animal I've been drawn to, and thus I have quite a few books on tigers as well as calendars ever year and the various National Geographic magazines featuring these great cats.
"Tiger: The Ultimate Guide" by Valmik Thapar is a great addition to my library and very informative regarding this magnificent animal.
The hard cover book contains over three hundred pages of insightful text and exceptional full color photographs.
I find the book a fitting text on such a fascinating creature, and the photography captures the beauty and power of this magnificent denizen of the jungle.
With over two hundred images, the book is a pleasure to just page through and look at the pictures.
However, the book also offers a very thorough history of tigers.
This includes its evolution and behavior as well as the tiger's symbolic importance in myth and ritual.
The book also has information on the exploitation of tigers and their struggle for survival.
The book also includes information on current preservation efforts.
The organization of the book is easy to follow starting with the origins of the tiger, the anatomy of a supreme hunter, the life of the tiger, the cult of the tiger, tiger and man, the tiger in art, the tiger in Western Literature, and the future of the tiger.
The book also includes information on Siegfried and Roy and the incident that nearly cost Roy his life, and a short segment about tigers in movies, including "Two Brothers" and the tigers of Thierry Le Portier.
The book is not entirely written by Thapar, but also includes contributions by wildlife biologists, zoologists, tiger researchers, artists, poets, historians, and conservationists.
The author is a leading tiger conservationist and has written previous books about tigers, but this is his most authoritative work.
And as I said earlier, besides the information the photography is beautiful.
The pictures display this beautiful majestic animal in many various settings, and some of the pictures are more than outstanding, they are incredibly majestic, which is fitting for such a noble creature.
Besides being a great book for anyone who likes tigers, I personally support the efforts to save this animal, as the number of tigers in the wild have been decreasing at an alarming rate.
I support Thapar and all those working to save this animal.
If you want an informative book about tigers with some magnificent photos, I highly recommend this book.
