What is the FIPS Process?
- A computer process executes certain instructions. For example, several processes may be used to execute all of the instructions necessary to run your anti-virus software program.
- The FIPS process is used to help users setup and manage hard drive partitions (multiple parts of a single drive). FIPS is part of the DOS Partition Manager program.
- You can end the FIPS process by pressing "Ctrl," "Shift" and "Escape" to open the Task Manager, right-clicking on FIPS.exe and selecting "End Process" from the menu that appears. This will not remove FIPS, but it will stop it from running until you reboot your computer.
