Monochrome

• White wood flooring, white marble countertops with gray veins and white kitchen cupboards with inset windows provide an inviting backdrop to a fresh looking and inviting kitchen. Using distressed wood on the floors adds texture. Selecting white cupboards continues the theme, but inserting glass or paned windows allows the eye to travel to another dimension. White marble is clean looking, and gray veining provides a contrasting color that can be picked up with either white or stainless steel appliances. Choose a bold color for your dinnerware that is seen through the cupboard windows and for your accent pieces that sit atop the counters. Silk or fresh flowers add a liveliness to the room. Bold Colors

• Kitchen cabinetry is now available in bright red, cobalt blue, black and other primary colors. If you choose to decorate with this statement, ensure your other features do not conflict. Cobalt blue solid door cupboards work well with white countertops. The look should be continued by using a white floor. Accent with gold or yellow for a fresh Provencal look.
