How to Wear Eye Protection
- 1). Determine what type of safety glasses you need for the job. A woodworker will need different protection than a chemical worker. Consult the chart listed in the resources for different types of eye protection.
- 2). Choose the right type of safety glasses. They can be simple plastic glasses with wings, goggle type, or prescription glasses. Prescription safety glasses must be ordered though your regular eyeglass supplier. Some manufactures offer reasonably priced safety glasses that will fit over your regular prescription lenses.
- 3). Place your chosen pair of safety glasses over your eyes in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Adjust the ear pieces to ensure that the glasses and wings fit tightly against your face. With goggles, ensure that all portions of the rubber frame fit securely against your skin.
- 4). Put your safety glasses on before starting any machine or entering an area where machine work is being done.
- 5). Do not remove your safety glasses until you have entered a safe area away from the manufacturing process. Safe areas are generally office areas or break rooms.
