How to Adjust Brake Pedal Height in a Geo Tracker

104 7
    • 1). Test your brake pedal to see how much free play there is. The problem may be as simple as replacing brake pads. However, if you find that you can depress your brake pedal and it travels more than 1/16" before responding, you should adjust the height.

    • 2). Find the brake booster push rod, near the top of the brake pedal lever. This is most accessible from the right hand side, and is a small rod with two locking nuts connected to the back of the lever.

    • 3). Use a 14mm open end or crescent wrench to loosen the lock nut closest to the brake pedal lever. Make sure not to loosen the other nut.

    • 4). Twist the brake booster push rod with a pair of pliers to adjust the height. Turning it clockwise will raise the pedal and lessen free play. If you raise the pedal too high, twist it counter clockwise.

    • 5). Tighten the locknut and test drive your Tracker around the block. If you notice any chattering or abnormal noises, lower the brake pedal slightly.
