Clavamox Liquid Administration in Cats
- Clavamox is a mix of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid and aids in eliminating skin and soft-tissue infections, such as abscesses, wounds, cellulitis, dermatitis and urinary-tract infections (UTI). Liquid Clavamox can also be used to treat other bacterial infections, such as feline colds. This medicine is used in cats and dogs alike.
- The recommended dosage for cats is 6.25 mg per pound of body weight, twice a day. Do not stop administering the medicine before the recommended time period is complete; this may cause the infection to last longer and possibly worsen. In addition, Clavamox should be kept in a cool, dry area where the temperature exceeds 77 degrees F.
- Administer liquid Clavamox orally by using a syringe. This is the norm, but administration can vary depending on your veterinarian's advice.
- Depending on what kind of infection your friendly feline has, and your veterinarian's instructions, you may have to administer Clavamox to your cat for 5 to 14 days.
- Liquid Clavamox can only be prescribed by a registered veterinarian, and it can usually be acquired at the vet's office.
