Image Cropping and Resizing - Why Is It Important to Use?

103 30
Have you ever taken a photo of a person and they look tiny in comparison to what surrounds them? This is due to not being close enough or not zooming into the subject before you took the shot.
You may not notice it until later and perhaps the photo cannot be re-shot, so what do you do? You use image editing software to crop out some of the background and make the subject larger, but not so large that there is no background.
The point is, you want proportions in the photograph and the background needs to compliment the person.
Moreover, if you crop too much, you may end up with a very fuzzy and blurry subject.
While it is true that some digital cameras will automatically crop your photos, often it is not the way you want them cropped, which is why there is software to crop them manually because it is often the best way to truly save the image.
Moreover, if you take a digital art class in college, you will learn a whole section on cropping software and how it can enhance the photo's overall appearance.
In addition, some digital cameras are set to a very high pixels, so that when you open the photo on your computer it is huge, perhaps more than 2mb.
Obviously, you do not want to put 1000's of photos on your computer with each one being 2mb, because before long you will fill up your hard drive with nothing but huge images.
Therefore, using a resizing function on the software allows you to make the photos into a smaller size, which means they are easier to send via email or upload to websites.
Often, people do not realize the importance of resizing their photos before they upload them to a website because if the photos are too large, it will probably just time out trying to get them on you site.
When you crop and resize the photos, they upload faster and of course look better than huge photos.
Moreover, email programs will typically only send attachments of 10mb max, so if you try sending 20 photos that are over 2mb each, your ISP is going to tell you that you can't send such a large attachment.
This may lead to you sending two photos at a time, which is time-consuming, by resizing them you make them easier to send and easier to open for the recipient.
Finally, when it comes to having the perfect photos, it is more than simply taking a good photo because sometimes those need editing, cropping, and resizing to truly have the perfect photo.
Therefore, make sure you spend some time reviewing various editing software programs so that you get one that is easy to use and meets all of your editing needs.
