Awards Are Stupid - He Said, and You Know What, He"s Correct Isn"t He?

Over the years, I've come to respect awards a lot less.
The reason is that every time I see someone getting an award, I immediately look at who is giving it to them - then I asked myself; why are they giving this award.
It always becomes readily apparent that they are using the performance, insight, notoriety, or achievement of the individual to uplift the status of the group.
By honoring the individual, they turn can take some credit for that individual's success.
Okay so, let's talk about this for second shall we? Not long ago, an acquaintance mentioned to me that; "Awards are stupid.
" Then I thought to myself; what an interesting comment.
You see, as I mentioned above, it's not that I don't disagree - it is yes that the individual who told me that had never really received any awards.
Therefore, one could ask does he despise awards because he's never been recognized, or because of the reasons that they really are irrelevant, and they have actually no bearing on the group and they shouldn't have any effect on the individual receiving them.
Of course, if you've never received an award or have never gotten a ton of awards over the years, then perhaps, one shouldn't make the comment that; "Awards are Stupid!" Now then, do I have a right to call awards, certificates, and accolades stupid? Yes, I believe I do, and I've collected my fair share of awards in the community, in sports, and in business over the years.
I certainly don't need any more, and I realize now what they really mean.
People should do what's right, because it's the right thing to do, not because they might get an award.
People should follow their dreams, and work towards their goals not because they will be respected by their fellow man, but because they have chosen to do so themselves.
Additionally, if someone receives an award who doesn't deserve it, they shouldn't accept it.
However, that usually isn't the case, because the individual so much wants to belong with that group of people and receive the kudos that they don't dare offend anyone.
Still, I would submit to you that such a personality displacement which allows someone to think like that, shows the lack of integrity of the individual, and a personality flaw.
Further, I don't believe there is anything notable about receiving an award which you don't deserve, or accepting an award from a group that you don't respect.
After all, this debate actually goes both ways.
Indeed I hope you will look back on all the awards you have received over your life, and think about how each one was given to you, and why, the real reason.
If you will do that for me, I think you will learn something very important for yourself and the nature of awards and accolades for group control and status.
Therefore I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
