How to Obtain a Fidelity Bond
- 1). Contact your local city council or employment office and ask if they have a fidelity bonding program. These are particularly popular for high-risk employees, such as people recently released from prison or some other state institution. As such, most states and cities partner with and endorse certain fidelity bonding agencies in the area and may even run a program of their own.
- 2). Write an offer of employment to the person you would like to have covered. This should be on your letterhead and include the location of the job seeker, the date of employment and the rate of pay. You will also want to include a statement saying that the employee's job is dependent on obtaining fidelity bonding.
- 3). Submit the letter along with any other necessary documentation to your fidelity bonding agency. In some cases the state will even help to find someone for the position.
- 4). Wait for the confirmation letter. The bonding company will send out a letter of approval--it usually takes three to four weeks--and your employee is considered bonded from the first day of work.
