Bath School Releases Charity Single
This Christmas a very special charity single will be released called 'Christmas In My Heart' the single was recorded by school children from the Prior Park College in Bath and they have enlisted the help of some very highly regarding members of the music industry. One of the people behind the release is the very talented and influential musician Midge Ure. As I am sure many of you will know him as one of the writers behind the historical charity single 'Do they know its Christmas' and joint organiser of the groundbreaking charity events 'Live Aid' and 'Self Aid'. He has expressed his excitement and happiness at being able to use his knowledge and skills to help such a good cause.
The musical collaboration happened between the Bath schools junior choir and the now Bath based musician due to Midge Ures daughter being a past pupil of the school. 'Christmas In My Heart' tells the story of a child's wish for her father to return home from war and spend Christmas with his family.
The proceeds from the song will be going towards the wonderful charity 'Help the Heroes' which provides better facilities for wounded and injured service personnel.
One interesting fact regarding this charity single is its very quick but professional recording turnaround and production process. The song will be recorded with just a piano and drum accompaniment with only 1 week left before release to orchestrate and mix the finished product.
This is just one of many different events that has been organised for 'Help the Heroes' charity by Bath residents. Events organised such as women's golfing events and fashion shows have so far raised in excess of 8000 pounds this year.
The school certainly has a tough and challenging road ahead of them as even some of the worlds most famous musicians have problems ranking themselves in the Christmas charts which have for the past few years been taken over by X-Factor finalist releases. The single was recorded by 4 part music and is available via Midge Ures music website Tunited.
This certainly is a valuable cause and will in turn become a once in a lifetime opportunity for the school pupils from Bath who could well have their sights set on number one this year!
