How to Adjust an Edelbrock
- 1). Set the emergency brake and start the engine of your vehicle, allowing it to warm up for about five minutes before attempting the procedure. Locate the two adjustment screws on the front of the carburetor below the Edelbrock nameplate.
- 2). Turn the adjustment screw on the left side counterclockwise with a screwdriver all the way open, but without turning it so far that it will fall out of the carburetor. Turn the adjustment screw on the right side clockwise until it is completely closed, without turning it too tight.
- 3). Back off the adjustment screw on the right, turning it counterclockwise five half-turns, allowing 20 seconds between each turn to let the carburetor readjust. Turn the screw on the left side clockwise all the way until it is closed without tightening it too much.
- 4). Back off the left side screw, turning it counterclockwise five half turns, allowing 20 seconds between each turn for the carburetor to adjust. Remove the rubber vacuum hose from the metal port at the base of the carburetor and attach a vacuum gauge to the port.
- 5). Turn the adjustment screws a half turn at a time, alternating back and forth until they read between 550 and 650 RPM on the vacuum gauge. Turn the adjustment screws according to the readings on the gauge and allow 20 seconds between each turn.
- 6). Remove the vacuum gauge from the metal port when the adjustment screws are set and reattach the rubber vacuum hose. Shut off the engine of your vehicle.
