How to Hold Down a Driveway Canopy Pole on Concrete in Heavy Winds
- 1). Ensure the areas around the canopy's poles are clear. Move away any objects that can get in the way of you pinning down your tent; also move anything lightweight enough to blow in the wind and heavy enough to move the canopy pole, if it were to hit the pole.
- 2). Tie a 1- to 2-foot length of string to the base of each of your canopy's poles. Double knot the string to ensure it is tight and can hold even in strong gusts of wind. Avoid using any rope that is too thick to be knotted tightly.
- 3). Fasten the string to the heavy object that will be used to anchor your canopy's poles. Concrete blocks can be the easiest to use, as their large holes make it easy to thread the rope through to anchor the canopy. For other types of objects, wrap the string around the object or, if it is flat and smooth, place the string under the object.
