How to Cast With Silicone Caulk
- 1). Spray the item slated for duplication with mold release spray. Use spray cooking oil for an inexpensive alternative.
- 2). Coat the item in silicone. Ensure the first coating is 1/4-inch in thickness or less. Use your fingers coated in mold release to help "push" the silicone into sharper angles and crevices.
- 3). Continue to apply new layers of silicone, waiting until the previous layers have fully cured. Failure to do this may result in the initial layers never fully drying.
- 4). Slice the casting directly down the center, perfectly halving the mold. Use caution to prevent damaging the copied item.
