A Special RSVP

Updated June 10, 2015.

Both of our families live quite a distance from our home. We weren't sure how to make our announcement and include everyone at the same time. So-my husband and I called our families and friends to announce that we were planning on having a formal event and would notify friends and family by mail after all the details had been arranged. We then had invitations engraved that included the due date and the name of the hospital.

We asked people to RSVP. We popped them in the mail and waited for a response! it was so much fun getting the phone calls from friends and family! Some were shocked, some confused, and all were overjoyed at our happy news!

Multiple Stories including Siblings

Updated June 10, 2015.

For my first pregnancy we decided to wait 3 months before telling anyone. I was going to be 12 weeks on June 27 which was my in-laws 25th wedding anniversary. On the Saturday prior to the 27 we planned a huge dinner for the occasion with my husband sister and brother including there significant other. Dessert came around and I went to get the Ice cream cake saying: "On your 25th anniversary how about being grand-parents?" Everybody just screamed and laughed!

They were all so happy!
Our second pregnancy, I bought a single white rose and wrote on it for my husband: "We are due July 6."

And for this little on it was my oldest daughter's job to tell everybody. She called my parents(they live 13 hours away) and said: "There is a baby in maman's tummy". They were very excited and my mom started crying. She used the same line for my in-laws and they did not believe her right at first but with us saying that she was right made it all the happier! Look What the Stork Brought!

Updated June 10, 2015.

My husband and I were very closed mouth about having children and none of our family members knew that we were trying. After we got pregnant and had some time for the idea to sink in, we bought 4 silver picture frames that were detailed for baby. We then made a picture on the computer with a stork carrying a baby and a message that said "Grandma and Grandpa (or Aunt Carri, etc), can't wait to meet you next April." We then wrapped each one as a gift.

We bought four because my parents are divorced and my sister lives in another state, so we let each family find out by giving them their own "gift." For my in-laws, we waited until the next time all of the family was together and gave mom and dad their gift. It's the first baby in our families and it was really exciting for the grandparents to open the frame and be able to announce the news to the rest of the family. Plus, now they display the frame and wait for the day they can put a real picture in it!

Guess what?

When I found out I was pregnant with our first child we had been trying for over a year and had been to the Dr. for different "tests" all the results came back ok and we were told to just keep trying. Well we found out we were going to be moving out of state.
We pretty much stopped dwelling on having a baby but once we got settled in our new place we decided we would find a Dr. in our new area about maybe trying some fertility drugs.

I made an appointment with a Dr. and gave him my history and he took some blood and a urine test after awhile the Dr. came in and had me law down to do an exam he was pushing on my tummy with some sort of small box (at the time I had no idea what he was doing turned out to be an ultrasound). He finally said pointing to a small screen. "Look over here it's your baby" I was 3 months pregnant and had NO idea. I was shocked to say the least. I was also surprised that a baby 3 months old is so formed and perfect. I was so excite. I knew I couldn't keep my news in long so I stopped at a pharmacy to get my prenatal vitamins and called a florist and ordered some balloons for my husband at work. On the card it said "Guess what the Dr. said?!?!"

He was so thrilled! As soon as he got his balloons he called me at home and I rushed to his work and showed him the ultra sound picture of our baby!

It was so amazing.

Homework

Updated June 10, 2015.

When my husband and I were trying to conceive we joked about having to "do our homework". When I found out that I was pregnant (we were lucky and conceived the first month we tried), I made him a report card that listed: Love - A+, Commitment - A+, Attitude - A+, Attendance - A+, Desire - A+, Homework - A+. Under the comments section, I wrote "Congratulations on a perfect 4.0 conception, Daddy!" Needless to say, he was thrilled!

My husband and I were very excited about our pregnancy just as most everyone else. We told our immediate family in fun ways but the most fun was when we told our friends that we get together with once a month for a meal at one of the restaurants in town.
We decided that we would create a special menu to insert into the real menu. We arrived early to make sure the hostesses could handle the request.

The menu simply indicated "today's specials" and we listed several of the typical specials, then at the bottom we put, "Baby available in June, tiny fingers and tiny toes, courtesy of James and Valerie.......Priceless"

When we were finally seated James and I just sat back and watched the reactions of our friends as they were making their dinner selection. The two women were talking on a subject that just kept them going and going and they hadn't even picked up the menu! One of the husbands looked at the "specials" and said, "oh I don't need to look at this, I know what I want" then the other husband was reading the specials and started reading the "surprise" quietly but out loud in a confused tone. He elbows his buddy and gets louder and louder..."hey, does this say what I think it says???" They both read it again and start whooping and hugs began as the wives were so very confused as to what in the world was going on...it didn't take them long to figure it out. It was really fun to see their reactions.

My fiancee and I found out I was pregnant in the beginning of November, and wanted to share the news immediately. But we decided to wait and surprise them around the holidays with a gift of some sort. My fiancee was very excited and running very impatient with the whole idea of waiting.
We knew we wanted to get everyone in both families together, but how?

We were in the process of renovating a new home we had bought.

And at the time we purchased it, we had all four bedrooms picked out...none expected to be a baby's room! So, my fiancé came up with the idea of inviting both families to see the new construction of the home. As we gave them the grand tour, we casually showed one of the bedrooms as being "the baby's room". Upon hearing this everyone was shocked and overwhelmed with joy! I thought it was the best way to surprise them with the news! We were all in tears. At first my mom didn't get it. She said "baby's room..that's nice...WHAT?..you're gonna have a..."

It was the best surprise we've given in a while!!!

Well, this is not really an idea, but the father of my baby's mother went to see a psychic and the psychic said that someone will surprise you by telling you that she is pregnant. Right away she came directly to me. And as luck would have it I was and was waiting to tell her. Boy was she mad. Until she got over it and was actually happy.

When my husband and I found out we were expecting our 2nd. It was around my mom's birthday. I waited until I was 3 months along. Our whole family got together for a birthday dinner at one of my moms favorite restaurants. She thought we were there for her birthday which was only 1 day before. I had a special cake ordered by the restaurant. I had gone to a party store and bought little baby items (i.e.

bottle, ducky, pacifier etc.). They decorated the cake and brought it out and sang happy birthday to her. She did not know what to think, but finally got the hint. My dad was clueless.

We told my parents by giving them a Grandma and Grandpa picture frame with a note saying "pictures to follow in 9 months". But the most fun we had was telling the rest of my family (aunts, uncles, cousins). We gathered for a family picnic at my cousin's house. I got everyone together for a family photo. (This is almost impossible to do, there are so many of them). My parents already knew and were going along with me.

Anyway, I was taking the pictures. The first picture I had them say "Cheese". The second picture, I had them say "March 29th", my due date. It was so funny because it didn't register with any of them. The next picture, I had them say "Surprise, I'm pregnant". Jaws dropped open, eyes got so big and I just snapped away with my camera. I got about three GREAT shots of the looks on their faces. It was awesome. What a great story to add to my son's baby book.
