Gas or Electric? Well it's up to you, but here are some things to help you make a more informed decision: Electric RC Cars
- Use battery packs and DC electric motors for powering the vehicle.
- Are quieter and simpler to use than the RC nitro cars, but don't quite have as much power or speed.
- Off road electric RC cars can achieve average speeds of 10 to 30 mph, while on road versions will reach speeds of 40 mph or better.
- Need to be recharged about every 10 to 15 minutes.
And it takes about 30 minutes to recharge them.
So you may want to purchase extra battery packs that can be charged beforehand and take with you.
There are also portable chargers that can be ran off your full size autos car battery through the cigarette lighter port. - Because of their ease of use, these cars are a good choice for beginners who may be trying to get an initial feel for the hobby.
But if your heart is set on getting the maximum speed, and the smell of racing, then by all means consider RC nitro cars.
- Run on specially formulated nitro fuel.
Not as combustible as gasoline, but still quite flammable.
And you'll also smell the exhaust vapors produced by these powerful machines.
So not a great choice for running inside of your home. - RC nitro cars can run about 10 to 15 minutes on a full tank of fuel.
But as long as you keep filling the tank with gas, they can run virtually forever. - On and off road RC nitro burning cars can reach speeds between 20 to 70 mph -- and perhaps even higher speeds as your knowledge level increases.
- Also require more tuning and maintenance than RC electric cars do.
- Are recommended for more experienced hobbyists.
