How to Make a Mini Confetti Cake Slice Charm out of Polymer Clay

    • 1). Preheat an oven to 250 degrees.

    • 2). Work a block of white polymer clay in your hands to soften it and roll it into a ball. Cut the ball in half.

    • 3). Mix different colors of craft sand together so that you have about 1 teaspoon of multicolored sand. Pour the sand into a pile on a piece of newspaper.

    • 4). Roll the two pieces of clay in the pile of sand and work each of the pieces in your hands to mix the sand through the clay. They will begin to resemble the multicolored "confetti" in confetti cake.

    • 5). Roll each of the two pieces into a ball. Gently flatten both pieces so that they are the same width across and a little less than 1/2-inch-thick.

    • 6). Roll a 1/2-inch-thick piece of light pink polymer clay into a ball and flatten it to about 1/16 inch thick. Place one of the flattened balls of confetti clay on top of the flattened pink clay and carefully cut around the edge of the confetti clay to make the pink clay the same size and shape.

    • 7). Place the flattened circle of pink clay on top of the piece of confetti clay and place the other piece of confetti clay on top. Gently press down on the stack, just enough to make sure the layers of clay stick together.

    • 8). Flatten another ball of light pink polymer clay to a circle that is 4 inches across and 1/8 inch thick. Place the middle of this pink circle on top of the stack and gently smooth and press the flattened clay on the top and all around the sides of the stack.

    • 9). Cut away the excess pink clay from around the bottom edge of the stack. This is the icing on the cake. Refrigerate the cake for 30 minutes to harden the clay, which will help the clay retain its shape as you cut it into slices.

Cut the confetti cake into five equal slices with a sharp, non-serrated knife. You will be able to see the multicolored sand "confetti" on the sides of the slices.

Cut five eye pins to 1/2 inch long with a pair of wire cutters. Stick the straight ends of the eye pins into the outside edge corners of the slices so that only the loops at the ends of the pins are showing.

Put the slices on a cookie sheet. Put the cookie sheet in the oven for 30 minutes. Remove them from the oven. Let them cool for an hour before using them as charms.
