    Emo/Punk Choppy Cut

    • A hairstyle that became popular in 2010 is an emo, or punk, choppy cut. This hairstyle features asymmetrical bangs that slope across the face, with very choppy layers cut above and below the ears. The finished look is strategically unbalanced, making it look like you just left a wild concert. This style is suitable for men or women with short or long hair. For short hair, this cut typically ends right below the ears with a range of layers, sliced by a razor. For long hair, the bottom portions of the hair remain uncut, often flattened with a straight iron to give the entire look a very textured appearance. Celebrities who have worn this style include Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson.

    Messy Bouffant Bun

    • The bouffant is a classic hairstyle, as is the bun. However, combining them together in a charmingly messy fashion is definitely a new look, as of mid-2010. To achieve this style, work mousse or a comparable styling product through the hair. With a fine bristled brush, brush the hair on the top of your head back and forth to get the bouffant's signature puffiness. Pull it back to the nape of your head and twist it into a very loose bun, securing it with a few pins. This look is evocative of old Hollywood glamor, but lacks the sleek, contained structure of those styles. Instead, this hairdo makes it look like you've been out driving in a convertible. Actress Hilary Duff has worn this style.

    Multi-Tone Hair

    • This hairstyle has two forms: natural-looking color and vivid color. For women who dye their hair, this look emerged as showing the roots of your natural color became more and more acceptable. Thus, this style allows you to dye your hair and grow it out so that your hair clearly has two-tones: your natural hair color from your roots to your ears, and the color you dyed it from your ears to the ends. The look is fashionably disheveled and very alternative. A similar hairdo gives you multi-tone hair, except you use bright colors, such as pink or blue, on your ends, leaving the hair around your crown untouched. This look is much bolder but gives a remarkable splash of color.
