How to Read & Write Disk Image Files
- 1). Navigate to the "WinImage" website and click on "Here" to download the "WinImage" software. As of January, 2011 "WinImage" is shareware.This allows you to try the software for thirty days. A fee is required to continue usage.
- 2). Install "WinImage" by double-clicking on the setup file and clicking "Next" when prompted. Choose a directory on your computer to save the program to by clicking on it. Open the "WinImage" program.
- 3). Load a disk image by inserting the disk into your computer drive. and clicking on "Open." Select the drive that contains the disk image. You can read floppy disks, a CD ISO image or create a new image.
- 4). Click on "Read disk" to read the disk and store the contents to the memory.
- 5). Click on "Write disk" to write the current image to a floppy disk.
- 1). Navigate to the "Altap" website and click on "Download" to save the "Disk Copy" software to your computer. "Disk Copy" offers a trial version, after the trial a fee is required to continue use.
- 2). Install "Disk Copy" by double-clicking on the setup file and clicking "Next" when prompted. Choose a directory on your computer to save the program to by clicking on it. Open the "Disk Copy" program.
- 3). Insert your floppy disk into the computer drive.
- 4). Select the drive you would like to load by clicking on the drive in the "Read Disk in Drive" box. This will read the disk and store the disk data to your computer's temporary memory.
- 5). Click the drive you would like to write the disk image to by clicking on "Write Disk in Drive" in the drop-down menu and clicking on the desired drive.
- 1). Navigate to the "Disk Checker" website and click on "Download" to save the "Disk Checker" program to your computer. The "Disk Checker" program is free to try and requires a fee to continue usage.
- 2). Install "Disk Checker" by double-clicking on the setup file and clicking on "Next" when prompted. Choose a directory on your computer to save the program to by clicking on it. Open the "Disk Checker" program.
- 3). Insert your floppy disk into the appropriate drive on your computer. Click on the "Direct Access" tab and click the corresponding drive your disk is in. The disk will be read and the data stored.
- 4). Click on the "Disk Image" tab and select the appropriate disk you would like to copy the disk to and click on the "Write" button.
