How to Check Air Pressure in a Tire in a Mercury Villager
- 1). Find the specifications for your tires. If they are the original tires, the information regarding recommended pressure will be located on a sticker or placard in the door edge, door post or glove compartment. Mercury recommends tire pressure levels of 26 to 36 for the original tires on the Villager.
- 2). Unscrew the tire valve and firmly press the pressure gauge against the opening. If this produces a hissing sound, press more firmly or else too much air will leak out.
- 3). Take the pressure reading of the tire and compare it to the specifications you obtained for it.
- 4). Adjust the pressure in the tires appropriately. To decrease the pressure, gently press the edge of the pressure gauge against the valve. Frequently measure the pressure so the tire does not deflate too much. To increase the pressure, go to your nearest service center and use one of their air pumps. Aim to have equal pressure in all four wheels of your Mercury Villager.
- 5). Repeat Steps 1 through 4 once every month and prior to long trips. Pay particular close attention to the air pressure in your Villager in the winter months, as cold weather often causes tires to have lower pressure.
