Tips for the Defense of the Ancients in "World of Warcraft: Frozen Throne"
- If your faction starts on defense, you need to prevent the opposing team from destroying a wall for 10 minutes. This requires a very strong pre-made team. The main strategy is to keep your entire team on the beach. One person should be assigned to each seaforium pile to make sure stealthers cannot pick up seaforium charges and run them to the walls. Sustained area-of-effect attacks work well for this.
Your main focus should be demolishers. Try to keep demolishers at 10 percent health so that they are easy to kill if opponents manage to get inside them. Keep CCs (crowd control spells) like "slow" and "root" on demolishers at all times. As long as your opponents cannot run seaforium charges or use demolishers, they will not be able to break walls. - If you start on offense, the faster you capture the relic, the less time you will need to defend the walls in the second part of the battle. If you can manage a three-minute capture, you will only have one set of demolisher respawns when you defend, making the achievement relatively easy.
- There is a bug which will give you the achievement as well, if the opposing faction gets it. In other words, when you are on offense, do not destroy any walls at all. Players in both factions may get the achievement.
You should note that this involves exploiting a bug. There are two problems with doing so. First, the bug may be fixed in future patches. Second, exploits technically violate Blizzard Entertainment's Terms of Service and may result in various in-game penalties. - You can earn "Defense of the Ancients" and most other PvP Battlemaster achievements by cooperating with a pre-made team from an opposing faction. Simply have both teams farm the beaches for honorable kills while on offense and ignore the walls.
Blizzard considers cross-faction cooperation for PvP achievements a form of exploit, in violation of Terms of Service, and may impose in-game penalties on all players involved.
