New Year Resolution - Exercise More
There are many benefits you can derive from exercising more so if you've included it in your list of New Year resolutions then you've made the right decision.
Of course, that's just the beginning.
What's going to be a bit more difficult is sticking to your resolution when the holiday season is officially over and real life settles back in.
All of a sudden, you find your tenacity slowly draining away and your schedule getting more hectic by the minute.
With so many things to deal with, how could you even think of exercising? Exercise Means a Lot of Things Exercise is the means of keeping your body healthy and physically fit.
But exercise doesn't have to be restricted to gyms and health centers.
It doesn't have to revolve around weightlifting, sit-ups, and aerobics.
Exercise can be any physical task as long as it makes you sweat and puts your muscles and joints to work.
5 Daily Tasks that Can Double as Exercise There are a lot of things you may already be doing or could do that can be constituted as exercise.
Here are a few suggestions to help you get started.
A Clean House a Fit Body Makes Not everyone loves housekeeping like Martha Stewart does.
Not everyone looks forward to spring cleaning and where you'll have to face up to your thousand and one small sins and clean up your old mess.
But here's the thing: house cleaning can easily be considered as exercise.
Cleaning the windows can help you do some stretching exercises.
Sweeping the floor can be a good workout for your arms as you push the mop in a rhythmic motion.
With regular house cleaning sessions, you not only get the benefit of a beautifully kept home but a beautifully toned body as well.
Walking Short Distances The grocery, bakery, school, and your workplace are all just around the corner.
If all these are within walking distance, why use the car at all? It's only going to make you spend on gas anyway.
But with walking, you still get to reach your destination on time - you just have to leave a few minutes earlier at the most - and you get to enjoy some cardio exercise on the way.
Make walking a regular part of your day.
If you can walk to work then you can walk back home as well.
Make sure of course that the distance you cover is manageable.
Don't overdo it or your entire exercise regime will just backfire.
Use the Stairs Do so for the same reason you're choosing to walk over driving your car.
If it's a manageable distance from the ground to your floor then take the stairs instead of going the easy and lazy way out with the elevator or escalator.
Going up and down the stairs are what steppers or elliptical trainers were based on, of course.
Naturally, treading the stairs are a mite more challenging than just walking so pay extra attention to your footing.
Use sensible shoes for this endeavor and again, don't overexert yourself.
Play Ball If you've several business meetings to conduct, consider having some of them take place on the court instead.
Negotiating over meals is now considered SOP.
As you can see, conducting business deals out of the boardroom isn't as unconventional as you may think.
It won't raise as many eyebrows as you believe if you choose to schedule your appointment over a tennis or golf match.
Join Sport-Themed Fundraising Events Fundraising events not only let you do your good deed for the day but they also prove to be an excellent way of expanding your network.
Fundraisers are often attended by the city's bigwigs and it's a golden opportunity for you to meet the movers and shakers of the industry.
But at the same time, let's not forget that many of these fundraising events include races and other athletic events.
Thanks to these events, you get to run for a cause...
and your health as well! There are of course a lot other little and often overlooked tasks that make up your daily routine and which could double as exercise.
All it takes is looking at them at the right angle.
Think about it!
