Six New Airline Fees You Need to Know About Before Taking a Girls Getaway

103 11
Increasingly airlines are raising prices on flights and now to make matters worse, they are charging fees for things that one would never imagine being charged for.
Your girls getaway should be stress-free and you ladies need to be fully aware of the fees airlines are charging, so there will be no surprises about things that where once upon a time complementary.
Ahhhhhh...
the good old days.
I am going to give you six airline fees that you need to be aware of.
Baggage Fees The majority of the carriers charge their passengers for checking their luggage.
You may find yourself paying anywhere from $15-$25 for the first checked bag and an equivalent price or an increase for each additional bag.
The only carriers who do not currently charge a baggage check fee at this time are Southwest and Air Canada.
As of now there is no charge for carry-on bags on any of the carriers, but clearly, that is subject change.
Luggage Weight Normally, ladies like to pack just in case outfits and shoes but you may want to rethink doing that.
Airlines have strict weight restrictions for checked luggage.
If your bag is heavier than the set restriction, which in most cases is 50 pounds, guess who has to pay a fee? That's right, you do! Although 50 pounds sounds fairly easy to stay under, you'd be surprised how fast those pounds add after packing clothes, shoes, toiletries etc.
Do yourself a favor and buy a luggage scale.
It can save you from having to pay overweight fees.
Seat selection There used to be a time where you could change your seat to perhaps a window or aisle seat or even the emergency exit row, which is more spacious than the other rows.
There are now airlines that charge you for seat selections.
Charging for passengers to sit in the emergency room is one of the most absurd things that I've ever heard.
In the eyes of the passenger that row equals more legroom but in the eyes of the airlines, the passengers that are seated in that row must be willing to assist other passengers in evacuating the aircraft in the event of an emergency.
To summarize then, airlines now charge an extra fee for those passengers willing to help save the lives of others.
Woowwwwww, is all I can say! Eating on Board Herein again, something that was once complementary is now offered to passengers for a fee.
When there is no charge, you're surely not getting a full meal, your freebie is going to be pretzels and a beverage, and may be a beverage only.
You can bring your own food on board.
It will be cheaper and tastier.
Blankets and Pillows I want to say that, this fee has a love-hate thing attached to it.
Let me explain.
You see, another tack on fee is not something we like but at least you know that you will not be given a used blanket and pillow that possibly, no, is highly likely to have germs.
The set the airlines do offer for purchase are brand new.
The down side, it is higher priced than buying your own outside of the airport.
Your best bet to avoid the germs and the fees is to bring your own travel blanket and pillow.
Earplugs For the airlines that do have individual televisions, there is more than likely a charge to use them.
Even in if they are complementary or there is an in-flight movie on the overhead screens, you will need ear phones to hear what is playing.
You will be charged for the cheesy earphones that they give you.
Once again please be prepared and bring your own.
Information that you have on the add-on fees the airlines charge can help you to be better prepared for your girls getaway.
Planning accordingly can be one of your best ways to save money.
