    • 1). Select chunks of concrete from a building project or construction site based on overall attractiveness and appropriateness for the layout you plan to make. Collect more chunks than necessary due to the tendency of concrete to crumble in an unexpected way when hammered.

    • 2). Set out the concrete chunks in a driveway or patio floor, on top of a sheet of plywood or other material to protect the surface. Position the chisel on the concrete chunk and strike it with the hammer to remove excess portions of concrete. Repeat until all the concrete chunks have been shaped to fit your intended design.

    • 3). Set the chunks in the sink and run them under hot water. Add soap and scrub them with steel wool to remove excess dirt. Set the clean rocks in a bucket, add 3 tbsp. soap, and fill the bucket with hot water. Allow the rocks to soak for three days.

    • 4). Remove the rocks from the water and rinse them thoroughly under hot water, then cold water, until they no longer create any suds. Transfer the fish to a holding aquarium and rearrange the aquarium environment with the new concrete rocks, adhering them together using the nontoxic caulking if necessary to create more dynamic structures. Reintroduce the fish into their new environment.
