Valentine"s Day Crafts
Valentine's Day is a perfect time to be creative with your children.
Using an everyday object such as a paper plate can provide you with several new and exciting crafts for your child care center.
1.
Love Bug Materials: 9-inch paper plate 6-inch paper plate Glue Colored markers or paint Construction paper Pipe cleaner Instructions: Paint or color the bottom of each plate red.
Glue the 9-inch plate and the 6-inch plate together so that the two form a "figure eight.
" The 6-inch plate will be the head of the love bug and the 9-inch plate will be the body.
Cut one sheet of black construction paper into six long strips.
These strips will be the arms and legs of the bug.
Glue three arms and legs underneath each side of the body.
Take two black pipe cleaners and glue them on the top of the head.
These pipe cleaners will be the love bug's antennae.
Decorate the body by drawing or cutting out hearts or circles from black construction paper.
Affix these to the body of the love bug with glue.

Valentine's Mailbox Materials: 9-inch paper plates Colored markers or paint Glue Red ribbon Instructions: Take two 9-inch plates and set one aside.
Cut one plate into two equal halves.
Discard one half, or set it aside for another child to use.
Paint one whole plate and the half plate on both sides with red or pink paint.
Once the paint is dry, glue the fronts of the two plates together to form a pocket.
Punch a hole on top of the whole plate and tie some ribbon through the hole.
This pouch forms a "mailbox" for your children to use for receiving Valentine's cards.
