A Homemade Outside Fly Trap
- 1). Take the cap off of a 1-gallon milk jug and set aside. Remove any labels and wash the jug out with soap and warm water. Set the jug upside down for one hour to dry.
- 2). Turn the jug right side up and cut out four or five quarter-sized holes with a utility knife. Space the holes around the sides of the jug about 4 inches down from the top.
- 3). Mix 1/4 cup syrup with 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar and pour into the jug. Add water until the jug is halfway full. Replace the cap and tightly screw it on.
- 4). Set the jug in an outdoor area where there is a thick swarm of flies. Empty the trap daily, and refill it with a fresh syrup, vinegar, and water solution.
